Dear Diary…

I was going to tell you about everything I do every day, but first, here’s a short “life in the day” as told by one of our loved pups!

A Dog’s Diary: Life at Sitting Pretty Pet Care

6:00 AM – 6:30 AM
WAKE UP: Mission accomplished! Luna licks the human awake, or we all start barking the morning alarm. Works every time.

POTTY TIME: Freedom! We all rush outside to take care of business while the human supervises.

6:30 AM
BREAKFAST: The human dishes up our meals exactly how our owners say we like them. We eat separately, which seems silly, but I hear it’s to keep things peaceful. Water bowls are scrubbed and refilled constantly—fresh water is always ready for us.

MEDICATIONS: Some of us get treats that secretly have medicine in them. The human is very sneaky with cheese and peanut butter (unless someone’s allergic, then she hides the peanut butter!).

7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
NAP TIME: After breakfast, we lounge around to let our bellies settle. The human says it prevents upset tummies, but honestly, it’s just a great excuse for more sleep.

DAYCARE FRIENDS ARRIVE: One by one, new dogs show up, tails wagging, ready for fun. The human greets them, checks schedules, and makes sure everyone is where they need to be.

9:00 AM
POTTY BREAK: We head outside again! The human makes sure we don’t make messes inside, which means belly bands for the boys (some of us like to mark our territory a little too much).

9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
PLAYTIME! The best part of the day!

  • Tetherball: Some of us are pros. Others cheat, obviously!

  • Fetch: Indoors, outdoors, wherever! Some prefer chase (ahem, Kai), bless their hearts.

  • Free Play: It’s like school recess. Best friends are made here. Butts are sniffed. Trees are watered. Sticks are collected.

  • Toys Galore: So. Many. Toys.

  • Pool Time (Summer Only): If you like swimming, the human lets you try. Some of us just float like royalty and others lounge in the shade. There’s space for all of us. For a few, I won’t name names, they get the kiddie pool instead because I guess they just aren’t ready to swim with the big dogs.

1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
MEET & GREET: Sometimes, new humans come to see if this place is a good fit for their pup. The human talks a lot, asks questions, and lets us show the new dog around.

NAP TIME: After all that play, we crash. Hard. Even the rowdiest pups turn into snoring fluffballs. (Will someone please get me some ear plugs?)

2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
WAKE UP & ENRICHMENT: The human has all kinds of brain games for us!

  • Puzzle feeders (Challenge accepted!)

  • Licki-mats (Messy but fun)

  • Treat hunting (We dig through paper and boxes for hidden goodies)

  • Edible bubbles (Yes, we chase them)

  • RC Car Chasing (We bark. It zooms. We bark more.)

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
DAYCARE PICKUPS: Our friends get picked up, one by one. We give them the “see you tomorrow” sniff.

DINNER TIME: Another round of perfectly portioned meals. The human is serious about making sure we eat the right food. If we’re grazers, she offers us food multiple times a day.

5:00 – 6:00 PM
POST-DINNER CHILL: No zoomies allowed for a bit after eating. We relax while the human catches up on her never-ending list of chores.

7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
SNUGGLES & LOVE: The best time of the day. We get belly rubs, head scratches, and lots of human attention. We gently compete for the best seats on the couch.

8:30 PM – 9:00 PM
FINAL POTTY BREAK: One last trip outside, then it’s time for bed.

The human does so much all day—cleaning, scheduling, checking on us, washing all the things (so much laundry), talking to clients, and making sure everything runs smoothly. But no matter how busy she is, she always makes time for treats, play, and love.

Life at Sitting Pretty Pet Care? Absolutely pawsome.

Signed,

A really lucky pup 🐾

I guess he did a pretty good job at describing a typical day around here! He might have left a few details out, so here are a few more insights into our day.

  • Water bowls are washed & filled numerous time a day.  Fresh, clean water is ALWAYS available to the dogs.

  • Owners are asked to bring medication in their original prescription bottles / packaging and to write out instructions for me on how and when these should be given.  Owners are also asked to bring pill pockets, cheese, or whatever else they typically use to get their dog to swallow their meds.

  • Potty breaks happen every hour.

  • Dogs are never in the pool alone and are always supervised. Other water play is also available through sprinklers.

  • We do not have a “house food”.  Each owner provides us with enough food for their dog’s entire stay (plus a couple days extra, just in case a flight is cancelled, a vehicle breaks down, or any number of other things that could possibly happen).

  • And yes, there are always a million other things for this human to do while the dogs play and nap!

Love,

Sibyl ❤️
